TRANSFORMED AND INCLUSIVE WATER SECTOR: SOUTH AFRICA YOUTH WATER CAMPAIGN - A PARTNERSHIP TO ELEVATE THE VOICES OF THE MARGINALISED

This Water Campaign is a joint partnership between youth consortiums based in Africa and is funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency
The chosen theme is ID 5: Water Action Decade. The event starts off-site in South Africa where we will be submitting a joint statement – a Call-to-Action, for our Ministry of Water and Sanitation that will be attending the Conference, to incentivise them to bring the youth main messages ‘the youth call to action’ to New York. We will also be shooting a mini documentary with stories from affected marginalised and displaced communities from flooded, drought stricken and polluted water areas in South Africa. We are hoping to have their voices heard and to also let them know about the Conference and what it could mean for them. The format for the side event is: 1) General overview of the whole project and Call-to-Action document; 2) showcasing the video; 3) a panel discussion from our youth partners, organisations and our Ministry representatives (if possible) about the video, the UN conference as whole and what it would mean for the marginalised voices (youth, women, children and ordinary citizens) not present
